Owners of Kindle models from 2012 and earlier will no longer be able to download, borrow or purchase new books as of May 20.
Kindle users, some of whom have said their models still work without issue, have been left furious, stating the move by Amazon 'feels completely unnecessary from a user perspective'
If you have an older Kindle model, you may want to think about upgrading. This means you will not be able to purchase, borrow or download new books on these devices. You also will not be able to register these devices to an Amazon account.
Affected users can still read books, but they can't purchase or download new ones, and whatever you do, do not hit that factory reset button.

To find out what Kindle you have, go to the device, select All Settings, then Device Options, then Device Info.
